Saturday 21st June saw a momentous occasion in Lerwick as the first Sixareen built in town for 100 years was launched watched by a crowd of around 500.Alongside the Sixareen a Haddock boat was also built over the winter at the recently opened Shetland Museum complex at Hay's Dock.
Built to traditional methods as much as possible the new Sixareen was named Valia Mae.
She will be used for harbour tours during the coming summer months.
