World cruise to Lerwick

For the first ever time a cruise liner on a world cruise will visit Shetland. On May 12th 2012 princess cruises Sun Princess will set sail from Sydney, Australia on a westbound route taking in the Far East, Middle East, Mediterranean, Northern Europe, North America, Caribbean, and Pacific Ocean returning to Sydney.

The Sun Princess is provisionally due to visit on July 11th 2012 en-route to Iceland from Bergen, Norway.

Her sister ship Sea Princess has visited Lerwick several times in the past few years.

Meanwhile 2011 cruise bookings for Lerwick show some 57 ships due to date, which would be a new record for the port.

Shetland as a whole has seen a rise in visits in recent times with Unst, Out Skerries, Fair Isle, Yell, and Foula regularly getting visits during the summer months.
