Gales cause shipping disruption

An intense Atlantic depression has seen shipping scatter for shelter yesterday and into today around Shetland as vessels seek calmer waters. A second deep low is forecast to swing in for the weekend also.

NorthLink's Hrossey is currently alongside Hatston, Kirkwall after arriving from Aberdeen, however she will not be continuing on to Lerwick due to the conditions.

Various ships are at shelter off the east side of the islands these are:

Hirta
North Purpose
Skandi Barra
F.D. Incredible

Baltasound in Unst has the fishing trawler Karen Ann II in for shelter also.

The frequent shuttle tanker visitor to Quarff's anchorage Petronordic is dodging east of Bressay.
