Italian ferry to boost floating accommodation

The Italian ro-ro ferry SNAV Toscana is due to depart Naples this weekend to head for Lerwick to boost capacity for workers staying on the islands.

The push to try and finish the Tormore-Laggan gas plant at Sullom Voe has meant extra workers will arrive in Shetland soon, and will be housed on board this vessel. which will be berthed at Holmsgarth 5 until the end of May.

The 169m vessel may be required to shift as per needed but will be another addition to the 3 barges in port currently, along with the cruise ship Gemini and further barge Bibby Challenge in Scalloway.
