Two people injured on Hrossey

Yesterday morning a crew member and passenger were injured after the NorthLink ferry Hrossey encountered "significant heavy seas and swell" while enroute to Lerwick.

The incident happened at 06:10am when the ship was east-north-east of Sumburgh Head about an hour out of port. Passengers reported two heavy rolls in quick succession leading to the injuries sustained to the men as they were thrown against bulkheads. One was treated for rib damage, whilst the crew member damaged his shoulder.

Upon arrival both were taken to hospital, however despite arriving on time passengers had to wait an additional 45 minutes to disembark due to technical problems with the linkspan and overhead walkway, the result of which according to Lerwick Port Authority was due to an overnight power cut in Lerwick.
