Last night one of the UK's biggest stern trawlers came within 20 feet of grounding in strong winds on Shetland's shoreline.
The drama occurred off the pier at Collafirth, North mainland Shetland when the Atlantic Princess lost engine power in force six winds. Upon dropping anchor and slowing the drift of the ship the Sullom Voe tug Shalder was despatched to the scene and managed to tow the vessel to deeper water from where repairs were carried out.
Afterwards the trawler continued on her voyage through Yell sound towards the west coast of Shetland to continue fishing.
