Upgrades start for Lerwick's small boat harbour

Work has recently begun on the second phase of improvement works for Lerwick Harbour's small boat harbour.

The joint venture between Lerwick Port Authority and the Lerwick Boating Club will see the construction of a new and improved seawall along the shoreline, together with a widened walkway and seating area for locals and tourists alike to take in the views of the harbour.

Complimenting this will also see the old wooden decking replaced with a brand new and extended decking, which will improve safety for launching dinghies and other small craft.

The total investment for the works the first of which was finished last year comes in at around £650,000.
