Beryl lost north of Shetland

The Banff registered Beryl BF411 sank on Sunday some 25 miles north of Unst after taking on water suddenly. The trawler which was a regular visitor to Shetland was fishing when she got into difficulties.

Despite the best efforts of the crew to save her she foundered.

The crew were taken on board the trawler Onward unharmed which proceeded to land them in Lerwick later.

This is now the second trawler lost around the isles in the past week after the grounding and abandonment of the Quiet Waters which ran aground on Alta Holm, Hamnavoe, Burra last week.
