Costa Pacifica visit round up

The visit of the Costa Pacifica marked a new record for the largest liner when she arrived yesterday morning from Kiel.

The 114,500grt vessel carrying some 3,000 passengers made it to anchor in the inner harbour as favourable weather conditions prevailed. The passengers were entertained by Lerwick pipe band on the pier, along with the long standing meet and greet service provided by Shetland tourism.

The ship was originally meant to sail for Reykjavik at 13:00hrs but stayed in port to nearly 16:00 to allow more time ashore.

This is the largest vessel due this year on her one and only visit, however she will return twice in the 2012 season which promises another busy summer.
