After a period of three weeks under detention in Lerwick Harbour, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's (SSCS) lead vessel Steve Irwin finally sailed this morning bound for the Faroe Islands.
The release comes after a security bond of some £520,000 was deposited by SSCS against a legal action by a Maltese fishing company regarding an alleged incident in April off the Libyan coast.
The Steve Irwin faced possible confiscation if the money could not have been raised in time.
The ship is expected to return to Lerwick in a few weeks time.
