Surprise cruise ship call

Due to the ongoing strike action by Norwegian pilots Lerwick will see a bonus visitor tomorrow morning in the shape of the AIDAluna.

The "Sphinx" class liner will be on her maiden visit to the islands, and with her distinctive profile will be the star attraction on her visit from 08:00-16:00. Known better as club ships AIDA cruises are no stranger to Lerwick having called with 3 different ships over the years, however this class of liner has never visited Shetland previously.

The liner carrying 2,300 passengers on their way home to Germany will be greeted by the usual warm Shetland welcome even if the weather may be a bit cooler than of late!
