New fishmarket quay nears completion

With a finish date of next month the new fishmarket quay at Mair's Yard in Lerwick Harbour is starting to take shape. The 151 metre quay face has a minimum 6 metre water depth at chart datum, and will help ease congestion the the north Holmsgarth area. Furthermore next year will see construction start on Lerwick's new fishmarket building on this new site.

The present location of the market suffers from poor access and at times does not have the water depth to accomodate today's deeper modern trawlers.
