New Greenhead quay opens for business

The third quay built for Lerwick Port Authority (LPA) within the last three years this week came on stream with the arrival of the supply vessel. Sea Trout.

The ship became the first to use the common user quay designated berth 7, that is 100 metres long and has a  minimum water depth of 9 metres at chart datum.

The investment along with berth 6 completed two years ago plus the Mair's Quay facility means that Lerwick now boasts nearly 4,000 metres of quay, with 1,300 metres deep water berthing.
