Busy day for Fair Isle

Yesterday (24th) saw an exceptional day of shipping for this tiny island as it was visited by two cruise liners plus a cargo vessel.

First to arrive for a visit was the National Geographic Explorer enroute from Shetland to Orkney with mainly American passengers who sampled the delights of this close knit community. The second cruise liner call of the day was the Bahamian registered Island Sky in the afternoon.

Amongst all this activity was the deck cargo vessel MCS Alisa which was in the process of delivering the new Fair Isle bird observatory to the island replacing the world famous old observatory which has come to the end of it's days.
