A historic milestone was reached as Lerwick Harbour hosted it's 1,000th cruise liner today.

The Boudicca on a cruise from Rosyth to Bergen was escorted in by the port authority tugs Knab and Kebister with a traditonal water display.

Passengers were greeted on the quayside by the Lerwick brass band and the Lerwick Up-Helly-Aa Jarl's Squad.

To mark the occasion hand engraved pewter longships are to be presented to the ships captain and the Managing Director of Fred Olsen Cruises, who along with other VIP's are in Shetland for the visit.
